I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BFA in Art Education in 1981. I have an All- Level Certificate in Art with an endorsement in Special Education. I began my teaching career at The Brown Schools, a residential psychiatric treatment center for emotionally disturbed adolescents in Austin, Texas. I taught at The Brown Schools for seven years. After marrying and moving to Houston with my husband Scott, I taught Art for five years at Grantham Middle School. In 1994 my son Eric was born and I took some time off from teaching to stay home with him. My husband was relocated to Denver in 1996. I returned to teaching in 2000 when my son entered first grade and I am enjoying my sixth year here at Whitman Elementary.
