December News

Happy holidays to all of you! It is such a fun and exciting time of year and it always goes too fast. I apologize for the newsletter being a little late.
You’ll notice that there isn’t a book order attached to this newsletter. This is to encourage students and parents to participate in our Scholastic Book Fair which runs December 8th to 12th. We hope you will be able to stop by. Thanks for your support.
We are immersed in great poetry in reading and writing. Students have read a great amount of poetry and are doing a wonderful job of writing as well. We can’t wait to share the poetry with you at our Poetry Tea Party. We will have a tea party on Tuesday, December 16th from 3:00-3:30 in the gym. A formal invitation will be coming home soon with a request for some donations. We hope you’ll be able to join us.
Thank you all for a fabulous first semester. The children are doing a great job in all areas and I couldn’t be more proud of how they work together. Let me know if you have any concerns or questions. Thanks for all you do. Happy holidays!
                                                                             Sincerely,

Limerick poetry

There once was a dog named Fred,

He fell on his cute little head.

He jumped away,

He did that today,

And that was just little Fred.   --By Miar

There once was a small, little rabbit,

Who had a very bad habit.

He hopped with Pop,

He couldn't stop.

That's why he had a bad habit.  --By Akista

Dear Parents,

We know that it may be tricky to find time to get to the library and check out new books or sometimes your children may attempt to read books that are a challenge. Although we encourage children to visit the library and find books of interest, we now have a new way for you and your child to read at home! Our new Houghton Mifflin reading series allows children to access hundreds of ‘just right’ books from home by accessing http://eduplace.com/eservices. You’ll find this program to be such a motivator and a frequented website that you’ll want to add to your favorites! We will also have a link on our Literacy Web page

Follow the directions below and enjoy this fantastic opportunity to read hundreds of new books from the comfort of your home.
